INTEGRATED PALLET WRAPPER: 3 ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS TO CONSIDER FOR PACKAGING PRODUCTS.

Pallet wrapping is the last step in the palletizing process and represents a crucial phase in the packaging of a pallet. It should be kept in mind that a stack of product is intended to be moved and handled. This is why, the stack of an improperly wrapped pallet may be damaged by the breakage of the containers due, for example, to falls or poor sealing during transportation.

There are currently various types of pallet wrappers on the market: the rotary plate which rotates the pallet on itself, the rotary arm which rotates around the pallet or the cover system which covers the pallet.

This equipment is available in different degrees of automation: manual, semi-automatic and fully automatic. The manual system requires an operator to apply the film, the semi-automatic system installs the film but requires an operator to move the filmed pallet. Finally, there is the 100% automatic solution which requires no operator, this system uses conveyors to move the pallets, on which the packaging film is applied automatically.

In this article we are going to highlight the fully automatic wrapping machine on a rotary plate.

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF ROBOVIC’S PALLET WRAPPER ?

GAIN FLOOR SPACE

ROBOVIC’s pallet wrapper is incorporated in the palletizing cell and by doing so, it optimizes considerable floor space. The operation is quite simple, the pallet is wrapped as the robot stacks the containers. This solution is integrated to the conveyor line therefore reducing the need for any additional floor space.

In contrast, an industrial wrapping machine with a rotating arm takes up significant space on the production line for two obvious reasons: first, the pallet wrapper needs a robust platform to support the rotating arm and wide enough to be able to turn around the pallet.

Secondly, the rotary arm must be placed in the cell at a safe distance from the robot, which generates higher costs related to the length of conveyors, safety barriers, etc. undeniably increasing the total surface area of the cell. The only notable advantage to the rotary arm system is its production capacity, which is about 30% faster than a rotary wrapper.

IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF PALLETS WITH A FULLY INTEGRATED CELL

Another advantage to ROBOVIC’s industrial wrapping machine being directly integrated in the palletizing cell lies in the control this allows. In fact, the interface operator of the palletizer controls it entirely. This is where the expression integrated pallet wrapper takes on its full meaning, all the elements that make up the cell are managed by the same interface: robot, palletizing patterns, labeling, wrapping, etc.

The benefit of this technology lies in the sharing of information, the industrial wrapping machine adapts according to the palletizing patterns chosen so as to obtain the optimal cycle for each type of palletized product. This avoids unnecessary over packaging, obtaining the best packaging for each product and avoiding production errors between the palletizer and the wrapping in the event of product change over.

WHY DEVELOP OUR OWN WRAPPING METHOD ?

ROBOVIC’s integrated industrial wrapping machine packages the product as the palletizing robot places it on the pallet.

The tension of the film is constantly maintained throughout the pallet wrapping process, the goal being to stabilize the product and to palletize it simultaneously so that the pallet remains perfectly straight and stable. This technique also makes it possible to palletize unstable loads such as bulk products like potatoes.

IN CONCLUSION

Finally, selecting the right industrial wrapping machine when integrating a palletizing system is essential to guarantee the quality and stability of the pallets while avoiding the risk of spoilage and falling products.

ROBOVIC’s pallet wrapping system is designed to meet the specific needs of many fields of activity and satisfy the packaging of the most complex products to be palletized with minimum space available.
